Numbers Raging (Numbers Game, Book 3) by Rebecca Rode

The series went a little downhill.

This series started strong with a great first book, but things went downhill from there. The second installment was so forgettable that I honestly can’t recall what happened. By the time I reached the third book, I was reading more out of principle than genuine interest just to finish the series.

About 75% of this book is spent building up to a war that ends up feeling… underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, plenty happens in that final act: gunfights, fighter jets, assassination plots, and an intense three-way battle between rival factions. There’s no shortage of compelling ideas and action on paper.

The problem is the execution. The writing lacks the vividness needed to make these moments come alive, and the pacing feels uneven throughout. The constant shifts between characters don’t add much depth or insight; instead, they disrupt the flow and make an already chaotic narrative harder to follow.

In the end, Numbers Raging isn’t a terrible conclusion, but it’s far from great. The series just lost its spark after that promising start.
