Friend Request by Laura Marshall

You could only read the last 20%, and you’d still get everything you need.

To its credit, the book does a solid job of planting a seed of curiosity early on and letting it grow. It takes you through a series of seemingly ordinary events that eventually tie into the larger story.

The problem is the big reveal falls flat. The final confrontation turns into a recap session where the main character and the villain explain everything in an “aha, it all makes sense now” kind of way.

Add to that the predictable twists and the obligatory British quirk of obsessing over food details (seriously, England, why is this a thing?), and the suspense feels more like a formality than a thrill.
